First impressions of JetBrains Junie

It’s convenient that the plan is separated as a distinct step — many errors are visible right away, but some important things are still missing:

  • critical: can’t roll back if something went wrong
  • major: viewing details of a single step (e.g., what the terminal returned, what errors in tests, etc.). The sense of control is lost
  • major: Copilot in Cursor is still better
  • minor: no adding of context rules like in Cursor (https://docs.cursor.com/context/rules-for-ai)
  • minor: no navigation to files that were changed. Only via clicking in the panel.
  • minor: showing changes via separate Diff for File tabs is less convenient than directly in files
  • minor: didn’t find inline LLM editing (Cmd+K in Cursor)

For now, I think I’ll stay on Cursor and try again in a month.
