claude code has a nice little touch — statusline. It’s the bottom status line that your own script draws, and you can configure it through the “built-in skill” /statusline right inside claude code itself.
This is a whole new pattern — the ability to configure and even install things via prompts to a local assistant. And it’s fire! Sure, the install becomes non-deterministic, but it’ll be tailored not only to a specific machine but to specific requirements. For example, I need transcription of zoom or google meet calls with local models. I can ask claude code to install/assemble something for me that listens to the audio output, saves it to a file, and once the call ends transcribes and saves the result in a convenient format, with post-processing. But even cooler — if some handy ships an INSTALL.md describing a ready-made working recipe for my OS. Possibly using other tools or the OS’s own facilities.
